Joana Simão

Born in Faro, in the Algarve, Joana draws influence from the sea and natural elements in her work, be it for the texture or the organic shape of her pieces.

In a palette of whites, blacks and earth tones, the ceramist likes to insert materials and complement her pieces with fabrics, ropes, and cork. Mostly utilitarian, their pieces vary between bowls, cups, jars, lamps and sometimes some sculptural pieces. She attended the ceramic course at Ar.Co,in Lisbon and finished the course in 2009,she maintain her studio in Largo dos Trigueiros 16B, Lisbon. Since then, she participated on several projects for interior decoration, restaurants, and hotels.
