WORKSHOP WITH KAROLYN MOROVATI

First workshop of the year — this time we are happy to
have Iranian born artist @karolyn_morovati , who will
introduce her technique of pattern making using
custom stencils.

About the artist: 

Karolyn Morovati is a self-taught visual artist whose practice focuses on pattern-making through simple geometric forms and grids of varying scales, creating intricate and contemplative visual rhythms. Born in Iran, she currently lives and works between Lisbon and Berlin.
Her work explores perception, structure, and evolution through process. Each piece begins with a hand-drafted grid that serves as an open framework, allowing forms to emerge intuitively through repetition and variation.



During this 3-hour workshop, you will learn how to design a simple graphic unit and transform it into a custom pattern using stencils. Starting from a base unit and color selection, you will explore repetition and transfer as tools to build dynamic and visually engaging compositions. Each participant will create their own unique pattern through hands-on experimentation.

All materials are provided, and no prior experience is
required.

Our neighbors at EMA will also be hosting a workshop, turning the area into a small creative hub for the afternoon.

Our lovely neighbors at EMA — home to some of the best matcha in Lisbon  — are hosting a special workshop together with Nódoa Negra, a Kintu Studio resident artist.

Join them for a relaxed and creative afternoon of paper pendant painting, guided by Nódoa. A moment to slow down, paint, connect, and enjoy good company — with a glass of wine or a matcha in hand.
