Aldeia da Ponte 1962

These Portuguese rugs are family treasures. They were woven in the last century, cherished, passed on. Sometimes they never came out of the family safe. Made from old clothes or linens torn in rags, each of these rugs or cushions contains in its weft the story of those who wove it.

Christelle, the founder of Saudade, travels the paths of Portugal to find these rare pieces. This one is from my grand mother done in my hometown village.

Its shimmering colors, the weaving is crazy, several months of work, weeks of tearing old clothes and this art of combining colors… A rare beauty that resists to the machine washing. In perfect condition.
